Tssawwassen Landscape Projects
The owners of this property were downsizing from a fabulous older home to a brand-new smaller home where they could leave the maintenance and go on more world adventures as retirement was just around the corner. The clients valued their outdoor space and enjoyed spending time outside. On their wish list was a built-in BBQ, fire pit, hot tub, privacy, water feature, and low maintenance. The challenge: a very small back yard!
With the initial design concept approved, the overall design and material choices were completed. The installation commenced and provided a sunken hot tub, covered BBQ area, a discreet rock bubbler, and a stone fire pit. A new hedge was planted to complement the raised seating wall and help create an outdoor room feel. A lattice trellis was added to provide privacy for the spa as well as a home for the climbing plants. With the low maintenance patios and walls, there was still room for some raised stone garden walls which softened the hardness with texture and colour. Overall, the small space now feels like a much larger space while also incorporating all the client’s wishes. Whether BBQing under cover on a rainy day, unwinding in the spa, or sitting around the warmth of a fire in the summer evenings, this area serves as a functional and beautiful space.
